The Opportunity

Canopy Growth is looking for an experienced, Professional Services - Buyer to join the Procurement team. Professional Services includes Marketing, Travel, IT, HR, Research, Consulting Services amongst others. Candidates must be highly motivated, a self-starter, adaptable and able to recognize and address departmental and organizational needs. The ideal candidate will be able to form and maintain relationships with suppliers, and cross functional business partners to ensure that the supported teams run as efficiently as possible.

As a Professional Services Buyer, you will be responsible for the creation and execution of strategic procurement plans, partnering with cross-functional business partners to source new products and services that drive the lowest total cost while maintaining service levels. The successful candidate will have proven expertise in building and maintaining strategic relationships with key suppliers and continuous improvement.

  • Manage and participate in contract development and negotiations
  • Manage Services type contracts and Service Providers
  • Source, negotiate & execute agreements. Attain terms and conditions which are favorable to Canopy Growth and seek to reduce the company's risk exposure
  • Evaluate Service Providers and own Service Provider relationship
  • Track orders, lead times, delivery dates, and costs
  • Provide visibility of potential interruptions and present mitigating actions
  • Thoroughly understand and utilize the Canopy Growth Corporation procurement process, including leading RFx’s and competitive bids
  • Analyze the spend patterns and discover cost saving opportunities
  • Support other Procurement Specialists in other verticals as required
  • Participate in product development activities to find suppliers and competitive pricing
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with suppliers
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with internal stakeholders
  • Knowledge and understanding of sourcing and procurement requirements and practices
  • Identify and lead cost reduction projects to meet organizational savings goals
  • Manage, research, assess and expand on our global supply base. Lead global sourcing initiatives, continuously scope marketplace to find new and increasingly competitive and optimal suppliers. Lead cross functional teams to establish procurement category strategies
  • Understand procurement metrics, how to analyze them and act when needed. Transform raw data, into an easily understood analysis that identifies trends and insights that can be actioned against
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to establish efficient stream-lined work processes that meet all stakeholders’ requirements. Have a strong understanding of problem solving and process improvement techniques to drive this work
  • Participate in M&A activities and integrations


  • Minimum 3 years procurement experience
  • A four-year bachelor's degree
  • Experience drafting vendor agreements/contracts
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Experience creating and implementing new processes
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Effectively manage competing priorities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Initiative to investigate problems, develop solutions and obtain results
  • Knowledge and understanding of sourcing and procurement requirements and practices
  • Ability to time manage, prioritize, and work under tight timelines, in a very busy environment
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects
  • Strong team player
