The Opportunity

Reporting to the Vice President, Innovation Acceleration, the Director, Product Development, Beverage & Edibles will partner closely with other Innovation leaders, as well as other departments including Brand, Insights, Commercial, and Operations to develop the category new product roadmaps and work to bring those products to market.


  • Be “an engine of human collaboration.” Provide connective tissue across the organization and promote a high level of collaboration.
  • Be the “Gatekeeper” of the category New Product Roadmaps.
    • Lead quarterly reviews and updates with Commercialization, Production, New Product Development and R&D stakeholders.
    • Facilitate new product project additions based on new cannabinoid capabilities, market dynamics and brand needs.
    • Facilitate new product project cuts based on capabilities challenges, market dynamics and brand needs.
    • Facilitate new product project prioritization based on capabilities, market dynamics and brand needs.
  • Develop initial product hypothesis and collaborate with Insights, Commercialization and Production, on early-stage product briefs.
  • Engage with experts across disciplines to bring product to market while aligning four critical development metrics: consumer desirability, commercial viability, technical feasibility and strategic brand and enterprise fit.
  • Be accountable for delivering consumer and business outcomes and develop the right cross-functional relationships to succeed in this.
  • Speak the language of the technical teams so that you can engage and translate technical language into consumer language and reasons-to-believe
  • Put Product Development Managers at the center of the cross-functional teams, help them develop a project and product-oriented ecosystem, empower decision making and resolve differences throughout the process as required.­
  • Support Innovation Acceleration’s work as technology scouts for the company, feeding in category-specific ideas and opportunities.
  • Contribute category-specific content monthly to support the New Product Development Trends report produced by Innovation Acceleration.
  • Support identification and development of new Innovation Areas of Opportunity with Innovation Senior Leadership.
  • Collaborate with other Innovation Directors on Product Concepts as required

  • Lead by example to set the tone and pace of the new product development process for the broader organization.
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Ten years of experience in relevant field(s); product development, innovation, consulting or other relevant product and process design experience
  • Strong business acumen with a high sense of curiosity
  • High analytical skills and creative problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability for critical, analytical and creative thinking
  • Strong teamwork, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate, lead and influence effectively with multiple levels of a matrixed cross-functional organization
  • High degree of accountability for self and others, while maintaining positive relationships
  • Highly organized, high attention to detail, and motivated with a desire to outperform
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment working on multiple and competing projects simultaneously, with a sense of urgency, thoughtfulness, and adaptive resilience
